Today, I'm a Finisher.

And I have the 'major award' to prove it.

Mike and I received these medals as we crossed the finish line for the Legacy Parkway 20 Mile Bike Tour today. 20 Miles and I feel fine. It was a great ride, and despite the fact I did very little to prepare for this ride *Blush*. It was SUPPOSED to help me stay on the bike all summer and though I failed somewhat miserably at the training the ride was one of the best ever...muscle wise.

The lanyard got me to thinking though about finishing. I'm not always a great finisher. I am a great STARTER, but it is much harder to be a finisher. Ideas seem to swirl around me, I get excited and start...then too often I fizzle. I don't want to be a fizzler. I want to be a finisher. So I think I may just keep this award somewhere handy where I can see it and remember what its like to FINISH!

*Thanks Mike for being a finisher with me today. It was a lot of fun doing it with you.
*Next year its 50 miles around Bear Lake...right Peggy?

GREAT JOB! One of these days we ought to race together.

Absolutely Brenda... you are already invited to the Little Red Race Next year in preparation for our August ride around Bear Lake...are you in?

Oh, tempting but intimidating. Which route are you thinking about, the 15, 35, 45, 62, 80 or 100 mile?

I wish I was closer to do these "races" with you.

But I do like the idea of hanging the lanyard where you can see it, to remind you to be a "Finisher". Lately I've had a hard time being a "Starter", so I've set a bunch of projects out in view, to inspire me to get something started. Thank goodness it's just me in the house right now, and no one can complain about my stuff not being put away :)

Brenda- I would probably do the 35 again. I agree it DOES sound intimidating. But it is totally doable, especially for someone that has been running and keeping fit.

Sharon--I wish you were closer too.

Kat: I'm still new enough to riding that I don't even know what 35 feels like. I haven't pushed my body to its limit yet (so, should I agree to this while I'm still naive?)

The furthest I've gone so far is 8 miles and I felt like I could have kept going. So, I guess that's a start, yes?

Like I said, I'm new to this but excited to try.

You'd be on a mountain bike and not a road bike, right?

Yes agree while you are naive. :)
My sister Peggy when training for the 35 miler did 8 miles per day several times a week and while I went on longer rides, her consistency helped her more than my length. We could definitely work up to it. And yes I have a mtn. bike. All the serious bikers get road bikes but I just have my trusty $89 target special. so far so good. Though after today I definitely want to get my gears tuned up.

i apologize that i can't share in the excitement to experience this next year. biking is NOT one of my things. neither is finishing. but i did want to offer a "non-comment" congratulations.

That was some fun news and WOW 20 miles! I can barely ride Kayt's tiny bike down the street and back. I could see my finish line the whole way back, and I came in huffin' & puffin' with muscle pains. I blame it all on the tiny bike! *blush*

Thanks Brooke.

Yes Jana...definitely blame it on the bike. :)
