150,000 Miles

(Please ignore the insane amount of dirt on the dash. I don't know who would show a picture like that?)

This is what we call TRADITION.

Growing up my Dad was big into ice cream. He found every reason known to man to find an excuse for an ice cream date. That explains why when our car turned over every 10,000 miles we splurged for a scoop of the good stuff. I haven't kept up the tradition for every 10,000 miles, but I do think 150,000 should count.
(P.S. I did plan to take a picture just as the car turned the magic number...even had my camera with me. Pulled off the road with Mike rolling his eyes and wouldn't you know it my batteries were dead.)

Kat you are hilarious. I love your writing and your traditions!

Darn camera batteries!

Now I'm going to have to start that tradition....anything for icecream!

Ice Cream is also the reason we had a 'fund' from all the loose change found in the laundry...and why we graced the ice cream shops when they had their 'free' ice cream for good grades promotions. I think my Dad was glad I got a few A's. :)

Kat: You, my dear, are so delightful. I LOVE that you have a mileage tradition, and I doubly LOVE that you drove around with your camera to capture it!

Hee-hee. My parents always made a big deal about mileage too . . . but sadly, no ice cream for us :( I remember the car mileage turning over to 100,000 while we were driving a hair-pin turn on the Needles Hwy when my parents came to visit me in S Dakota. And then every time the car turned another 10,000 miles, my parents would let me know that the car had gone another 10,000 miles since the "hair-pin" turn. Maybe it's a Thornley thing.

Oh - and I love the fact that you pulled over to take a picture when it happened :)

Love it Sharon! Also I love your Mom's garden report. I'm sure the reports were found together on occasion. :)
