Or this one by the river?
Or how about this one taken by that beautiful waterfall?
Oh, you can't see them? Ahh that's right. EVERY time we plan a hike it rains.
Now don't get me wrong. I LOVE the rain. The smell, the thunder, the incredible clouds. And it does make my roses look pretty.

But I want to go hiking!
On the upside we are saving a ton on sunscreen this summer.

Who says you can't hike in the rain? I did that a lot in Oregon. Granted, it's not as much warm, and the mud clean-up at the end is a bit annoying . . . but on the brighter side, the trails are less crowded :) Maybe someday it will stop raining.
And we want to hike with you (double sniff).
Stay tuned Sharon...after my pitiful rant I asked myself the same thing. :)
Kat: You know I'm a pessimist, so here's my take on hiking in the rain and mud with children.... I'm envisioning all the laundry and baths, and shoe scraping I'd have to do at the end. Totally not worth it. Plus, they'd be cold, and whiny, and slip and slide all over the downward trails. Patience will get you a nice hike in the sun w/no extra laundry.
Patience.
Patience.
Patience.
Reading the next post you would assume we didn't have any of that extra laundry...but indeed you were right. Ethan intimately met the one legitimate mud hole on the path .(they were amazingly unmuddy but we were at the Nature Center not in the mountains)
I finally remembered to look at your hiking list Wednesday afternoon. If I had known you were going to the Nature Center we would have been there for sure. We love that place.
We backpacked with 17 4th year girls through rain and mud last week. A little drizzle would be nuthin'.
Sharon...there was thunder...but luckily not too close. We were hiking in a place called The Nature Center. It's on 12th street in Ogden...and urban oasis of sorts.
Marni...I need to go back soon, my membership is up mid-July and we haven't used all their fun backpacks yet.
